you obviously have excellent taste in music - wish my local Karaoke was as good, it's so bad you feel like throwing a tin of kit-e-kat at them!

Cheers, Boodle. Almost burst into song at the news, but couldn't think of an appropriate ditty.

Awesome quiz! 250 crowns to you! :)

Good one David. I am afraid I hate Karaoke but enjoyed your quiz!
  • davidcalvert said on 12-Oct-2012, 4 years ago
Ah! You've learnt my secret. .... Wait till everyone's hammered. lol
  • jacksnharvey said on 12-Oct-2012, 4 years ago
You're right David, never heard of it but it's now on my list of places to go. I've dabbled in karaoke myself, once everyone's well oiled, I tend to sound better by then.

I was at a Karoke once unfortunately bystanding and someones dog started howling to a song, Awesome!
  • davidcalvert said on 11-Oct-2012, 4 years ago
Thanks, Custards. My tastes range from Nat King Cole to Heavy Metal, and all genres in between. Have even been known to listen to Pavarotti. lol
  • Custards said on 11-Oct-2012, 4 years ago
Quite an eclectic mix there David!
  • davidcalvert said on 11-Oct-2012, 4 years ago
You want to hear some of the singers at the Board Inn, Daze. lol. They get up nevertheless, and enjoy themselves, and for me that's what it's all about. Strangely, I don't think I've heard anyone sing any Beetle's numbers since I've been there. So if you're ever up our way, pop in and regale us.

  • davidcalvert said on 11-Oct-2012, 4 years ago
Congrats on the up-and-coming birthday. So glad you're into the karaoke scene. A lot of people think its outmoded these days, but you'd be surprised how many youngsters still attend. I like ballads myself, and have sang one or two in the past. Go for the karaoke session, mate, and have fun.
  • BarkingMad said on 11-Oct-2012, 4 years ago
Thanks for the pictures - gave me the answers for a lot of them! Good idea for a quiz - I'm very much into karaoke too. Everything I own is one of my faves as well, but I tend to go a little more for ballads. Must get a karaoke session for my birthday next month!
  • davidcalvert said on 11-Oct-2012, 4 years ago
Methinks you're being too modest, Phil. I bet you can rock it with the best of them. lol
  • PhilipJ said on 11-Oct-2012, 4 years ago
I did 'Old Time Rock 'n' Roll' by Bob Seger. It went down quite well - there was some cheering (alcohol-related I presume.)
  • davidcalvert said on 11-Oct-2012, 4 years ago
It's called The Board Inn. It's situated in Shield Row, Stanley, Co. Durham. I go there every Saturday night. I doubt if you've even heard of it.

Great quiz, glad about the pics tho'. Wot's the name of the pub David? This I gotta see, could even be our local
  • davidcalvert said on 11-Oct-2012, 4 years ago
I know where you're coming from, Phil. I didn't really start singing in public till about 3 yrs ago. What did you sing, and how did it go down?
  • PhilipJ said on 11-Oct-2012, 4 years ago
Good quiz. I'm a 'karaoke coward' and only sung (once) in a different place to where I live - all bar one were strangers.
  • davidcalvert said on 11-Oct-2012, 4 years ago
Big thanks to everyone for their kind words. Started singing 2525 at karaoke only a couple of months ago, midnitelamp, and was surprised how many youngsters liked it. Snow Patrol, however, takes up the greater part of my repertoire. I'm constantly being asked to sing songs from their albums. Don't mind in the slightest as I think they're are a fantastic band.
  • midnitelamp said on 10-Oct-2012, 4 years ago
zager and evans 2525 is truly as close as one comes to a real 1 hit wonder. most other 1 hit wonders usually had some follow up or had been in a group with several hits or novelty songs[with big producers behind them]. but not Z&E.

Echoed. Great songs! WD & TY :)

My voice is fine now, I'm happy to say. No damage to the vocal cords. I'm belting them out as good as ever! lol

    Pictures were helpful.
  • davidcalvert said on 10-Oct-2012, 4 years ago
LOL! Would have but got a serious throat infection 2 days after meeting him and was off the karaoke scene for a very long time. Apparently, he turned up a few times at the pub looking for me. My infection was so bad that I wasn' t even going out, and the rest is history as they say.
  • davidcalvert said on 10-Oct-2012, 4 years ago
Was asked to sign a recording contract several months ago, Fizzy, by a radio show host who has his own recording studio, and has worked with some big names. He heard me singing Sweet Home Alabama at a pub one night and came in and asked me right then and there. I told him I'd think about it.
