I'm pleased Whufc didn't ask for your Cheyenne name on the tap it out quz. Phew!
  • Prasutagus said on 27-Sep-2012, 4 years ago
Allo, Whufc has done a quiz about me - gotta go!
  • Prasutagus said on 27-Sep-2012, 4 years ago
Well, with a name like Prasutagus heralding back to the early Brythonic I'm not going to identify the real meaning. I know that it is derived from "esos" (god, leader and such) and Pasto- which is believed to be an abbreviation of a personal name, but what is not known. So the nearest I can get (and this is playing with Cheyenne in an amateur manner): tsé-véhonevêstse -a-oné'-hehá-mâxôhestsévo 'soo'enétóváne

Yes I did, Prags. My name literally means 'beloved calf herder'. The Cheyenne version is as close as I could come to it. A friend just posted on my wall about my fornename Éméhot'áá'e, and she reckons it reads like, "I'm a hotty" LMAO.
  • Prasutagus said on 27-Sep-2012, 4 years ago
Strange, the Cheyenne language seems to condense many English sentences into one or two words - must do the opposite with names! I assume you've gone back to the meaning of your own name and translated that?
  • davidcalvert said on 27-Sep-2012, 4 years ago
Have just worked out my Cheyenne name. It's Éméhot'áá'e Heóvó'êsá'e ésevone. Think I'll stick to the English version.

Good quiz. I was not so good, even the ones I got right were mostly guesses.
  • Prasutagus said on 26-Sep-2012, 4 years ago
Actually, I don't think jacks is that nasty, though "Hell hath no fury....." (I'd have put that into Cheyeene, but they don't have a suitable translation for "hell"). Mind you, I have a feeling that Harvey has one or two rather sharp teeth!
  • davidcalvert said on 26-Sep-2012, 4 years ago
    Let's hope she doesn't! Lol
  • Prasutagus said on 26-Sep-2012, 4 years ago
Say it? Surprised you could spell it! If jacks ever finds out what THAT means you're nêšéšenoné!
  • davidcalvert said on 26-Sep-2012, 4 years ago
Dare I say it, Prags ... Mâhtamâháaehéhasêstse!

  • davidcalvert said on 26-Sep-2012, 4 years ago
Va'?htama ve'ho'e, Prags. A lttle Cheyenne greeting for you there. Thoroughly enjoyed your quiz. Excellent!
  • jacksnharvey said on 26-Sep-2012, 4 years ago
Thanks for that Lupps, made a note of it as a must read.
  • luppaloula said on 25-Sep-2012, 4 years ago
Jacks there is a classic book by Dee Brown called Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee which will give you the REAL story. Well worth a read.
  • jacksnharvey said on 25-Sep-2012, 4 years ago
Some very interesting facts, wish I'd known more, made a few silly mistakes though. Wish there were more factual stories available, not the "Cowies & Injuns" that we've been brainwashed with.
