  • Prasutagus said on 10-Jul-2012, 4 years ago
Methinks you were stood at the wrong end of the alley! :-D Nickety-Pickety? Aw, c'mon, who brought all that stuff to school each day and how big was their satchel? Make girls cry? Of course I did, but that was another game!:-)
  • Prasutagus said on 10-Jul-2012, 4 years ago
No, jacks, it wasn't the bubble mixture! I was trying to avoid giving away the answer for the arcade game where you lob wooden balls at things on stakes which I always knew as aversion of Aunt Sally - more village fete than playground. Was that 'Hmmm' reminiscing happy memories?
  • jacksnharvey said on 10-Jul-2012, 4 years ago
Who mentioned Aunt Sally Prag? Wasn't that the red stuff we used to buy for blowing bubbles? Hmmm kiss chase! I think we had a lad like you in our school.
  • Prasutagus said on 10-Jul-2012, 4 years ago
I thought Aunt Sally was for village fetes, don't remember playing it in the playground! I don't do skipping! Mind you I remember a couple of games the girl's have forgotten to mention - Kiss Chase and Knicker Chase, (still play them if I get half a chance!)

With all these comments (and our memories) I think you deserve more than a tshirt Fizzypops. Thanks for getting us all "talking".

We called the elastic game Chinese Skipping, so I got it wrong too. Loved playing it!! When nobody would play it with me I'd use two chairs instead! Another indoors game I loved was Pick-Up-Sticks, anyone remember that?

Good quiz- those were the days when we chalked the squares out for games on the pavement and then a neighbour would come out and tell you to wash the paving slabs down as you'd drawn them in front of her house!!!

  • jacksnharvey said on 07-Jul-2012, 4 years ago
Don't think my ol' back could handle a game of jacks fizz, maybe a game of widdlytinks. Bet you pinched someone's knicker elastic for number 11.
  • cyndicat said on 07-Jul-2012, 4 years ago
Great quiz, remember them all. Didn't know the last one had a name.
  • cunio1963 said on 07-Jul-2012, 4 years ago
Great Quiz Fizzypops, took me back except for the french elastic dont remember that, you dont see kids playing at all now unless the 'elf and safety ' jobsworths are around,
  • PhilipJ said on 07-Jul-2012, 4 years ago
Nice one. I remember all but two - french elastic and two ball. A marbles game on a pitted man-hole cover was 'big' at my primary.
  • rangersman said on 07-Jul-2012, 4 years ago
    very good
  • jacksnharvey said on 07-Jul-2012, 4 years ago
Arh yes! No wonder kids were fitter in those days. Never heard of number 11 but played all the others, loved top & whip. Great quiz & a brilliant idea, loved it.

Wonderful nostalgic trip and good quiz fizzypops! I love it when I see kids today away from their nintendos and still playing some of the old games :-) Ooh I just fancy a game of Jacks now ... anyone game?
