Well done everyone, so pleased you enjoyed the challenge and hopefully learned something (and not just about squid!) :-)

Sorry to cause confusion, but generally the 'arms' have suckers and perform in the same way as octopus 'arms' or 'tentacles'. In common parlance they are all generally referred to as tentacles which is the way I went in order not to 'over complicate' an £8000 question and especially as some may not appreciate the difference with the longer 'wobbly bits'. Jacks, I thought it was only wives that were always right - mine's a solicitor and she gave me permission!

I was working along Jacks's logic but got the total number wrong.

I thought always being right was a privilege allowed only to women, namely wives, so how come you muscled in on the act?

Yes, jacks, you may challenge... if it’s established in law, by agreement and supported by evidence, but it may carry on for ever and I'd still be right! :-D

Well, I nearly made it. That last one was a real stinker. Dare I challenge? Strictly speaking, a squid only has 2 tentacles, the other wobbly bits are called arms, guessed your answer though so I'm not complaining.

Good one. Fell early with the squid.
