    @ltburgundy - My parents too are true cockneys and, as I said, my dad and my uncles often went out for a ''pig's". I still use the phrase myself, lol. Yes, a pig's ear is often used in another way to mean making a mess of things, but the origin of that use of the phrase is not rhyming slang.

    My parents were both true Cockneys - born within the sound of Bow Bells. Neither of them ever used pig's ear for a beer - only ever for a right mess of things. And I agree that modern phrases should be omitted - they are usually made up by people selling books to gullable tourists - and nothing to do with the Cockneys!

    wind and kite = website ?? Who decided on that one ? Far too modern to be considered cockney rhyming slang. @cazpo - Pigs is correct for a beer...... I remember my dad and uncles using that one about 45 years ago :-)
