The decline in the British role model…

The British role model has been in a severe decline, it was revealed yesterday.

A massive 67% of people considered John Terry and Tiger Woods as perfect public figures before their recent alleged scandals were revealed.

Now, a staggering 86% of Brits regard them as terrible role models for the younger generation.

Another 76% of Brits polled felt that high profile divorces/separations represented bad examples of the morals of marriage and family values. High profile cheating allegations are dissolving the traditions of trust and faithfulness.

For younger Britons, being exposed to a quick divorce in the public limelight conceals the large financial reality of ending a marriage through British courts. The average cost of ending a marriage is around £13,000.

The poll of over 1000 people across the UK, conducted by online quiz site triviala.com revealed over 90% people believe too much emphasis is put on the wrong type of celebrities such as the likes of Pete Doherty, Kate Moss and Amy Winehouse are more often than not in the limelight for the wrong reasons.

83% of people thought Reality TV stars shouldn’t be considered celebrities.

In addition to this, 89% of the public showed their frustration that these individuals were becoming famous due to their likeability factors rather than having actual talent to inspire the younger generation with.

An astonishing 93% of people polled believed today’s celebrities are encouraging young people to succeed via quick wins instead of forging long-term careers.

An additional 91% of adults surveyed believe the younger society are unaware of the real pressures of fame and success which often lead to either breakdowns, bankruptcy or substance abuse.

A surprising 90% stated that their perceptions of MPs being bad role models didn’t change regardless of the recent expense scandal. Its interesting to discover these hugely influential individuals are seen as such bad figures in our society.

Supposed role models don’t realise their importance and influential power they have on the younger generation including fans, youth and the general public. They become inconsiderate of how much they are valued and looked up to for direction and aspirations.

As a nation, it is collectively our duty to set the correct example to ensure our younger members of society can decipher right from wrong and keep traditional British values alive.

Thanks to everyone who took part in the survey, we really appreciate it!

The US actress Brittany Murphy collapsed at home in Los Angeles and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Cedars Sinai medical Center.  The star aged 32 is reported to have died from a heart attack.

She was found unconscious in the shower at her home which she shared with her husband British–born screenwriter Simon Monjack. Although the official cause of death is yet to be determined, the star seems to have died from natural causes.

We’re sure you’ll all be glad to hear that we’re no longer charging £1 for withdrawing any Triviala winnings via Click & Buy. Jackpot winners of £500 have always received the full amount, but winners of the £15 Triviala prize or the £20 Question of the Day have, until now, had £1 deducted per claim. Starting from yesterday, 28th July 09, all new claims for the prizes won’t be subject to this charge.  While these £1 deductions covered our Click & Buy fees, we’re now going to cover the cost ourselves. So good luck – we’re sure you’ll all be happy to hear that your prizes won’t be eaten into with fees charges!

Triviala Winners, Uncategorized

Playing Triviala can be a profitable hobby. As well as the chance of the £500 weekly prize, many users have won our smaller prizes many times over. Look at this:

Triviala Draw

angie_7475 and sgjenning have both won 8 times, earning £120 each. Shaman has won 7 times, earning £105, and six other users have won 6 times each, earning £85 or £90.

Jackpot

None of you have yet won the Jackpot more than once, but we are happy to say that 19 of you have already been paid winnings of either £2000 (when we did one monthly draw) or £500 (since we’ve been awarding the prize weekly).

Question of the Day

Both Frenchsev and helentrue have won this prize 3 times each, making a profit of £60. Many more of you have won it twice- congratulations to Perry, MsTink and Bella97 to name just a handful.

Quickfire

Quickfire awards not cash but crowns to enter the draws to the top 10 players. To enter Quickfire, players need to play each day for a week (beginning Sunday), and at the end prize crowns are distributed according to points earned. Congratulations then to raydar48 and bilko37, who have both ranked in the Top 10 an incredible 18 times, earning 1830 and 1630 crowns each. Congratulations also to PhilipJ, Caughoo and Battleship, who have all earned over 1000 crowns each by playing Quickfire.

Good luck to you all,

Double Crowns Deal

Uncategorized

Hey,
Some more good news. This time we’ve got a great crowns promotion coming up on April 1st. However many crowns you win or earn that day will be doubled and credited to you the next. There’s no catch- all normal ways of earning crowns will be included. So write a quiz for 80, post a link to Triviala on your website or blog for 100,  invite a friend for 20, get 4 per correct answer on Triviala…you get the idea.

We’ve been looking at all the information you’ve been giving us about the site on the surveys, and it seems like most of you want smaller cash prizes with an increased amount of winners. We’re working on that.

In the meantime, only small numbers of you are entering the Jackpot draw each week. Statistically, your chances are greater to win the £500 prize each week as that draw only receives approimately one sixth to one third of the entries the Triviala draw does. Why not use the extra crowns earned on 1st April to enter?

Also on that note, congratulations to user alitorode who won £500 today.

Good luck!

Crowns for your questions

Uncategorized

This week at Triviala, we can happily announce that we now reward users for submitting trivia questions. Click “send question” to choose a category, type your question & factoid, and we’ll give you 3 crowns for your trouble. This is in addition to the 200 crown reward limit for writing quizzes each month, and another excellent way of earning more entries to the cash draws.

Are you following Triviala on Twitter? We think you should!

Finally – for now- we’re very pleased to congratulate a recent Jackpot winner, kathrynwins, who won £500 on March 11th.  She kindly sent us a photo this morning of herself with the winning cheque. The next weekly Jackpot winner will be announced this Wednesday, so why not spend 100 crowns to enter?

Good luck,

In the two weeks since Triviala’s official launch, we’ve had over 1000 new players, and are now averaging over 250 new sign-ups every day. Don’t forget that, as a new user, you can earn crowns in ways other than just the quizzes: filling in our short daily surveys will earn you 2 crowns per question; uploading your photo (head-shot only please! No animals, babies, cartoons or objects!) will earn you 10; inviting a friend who goes on to register will also earn you 10, and submitting an original quiz will earn you 40 crowns.

We currently have 100 user-generated quizzes and want this to grow further. Quizzes can have between 8 -30 questions, be on almost any topic, and will earn the writer crowns to enter our prize draws. You’ll also have the satisfaction of seeing other users playing your quiz & voting on it.

As for prizes, as always, Triviala’s quizzes are free to enter & win. On Monday 26th January, we just gave away 50 £10 cash prizes to entrants of the weekly Triviala draw (it costs just 10 crowns to enter, and you can enter as many times as your crowns number will allow). We also give away £20 each day – all you need to do is answer, correctly, the Question of the Day – you don’t even need to be a registered user (although if you win, we’ll send you an email asking you to sign up in order to claim your cash prize – this is mostly because we need your address in order to send a cheque!) From February, things get even more exciting, as players will be able to enter our Jackpot draw, for a £2000 monthly prize. It will cost 200 crowns to enter – so you need to play regularly to earn the required crowns.

Finally, we’ve just hit a new user threshold. For the last two weeks, entrants to the Triviala draw could hope to win one of 50 £10 prizes – a combined total of £500. Once we hit 1000 players yesterday with a record sign-up, we upped the prize total to £600 (broken down into 40 prizes of £15 each). Our next milestone will be 5000 users when we will raise the prize total again.

Have fun & see you on the site.
