The mystery over the death of the ‘King of Pop’ Michael Jackson continues as his personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, pleads not guilty to being charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Under the laws of the Californian state, if convicted he could face up to 4 years behind bars. Prosecution are stating that Murray: “did unlawfully, and without malice, kill Michael Joseph Jackson”.  But by pleading not guilty, it’s been said he should expect a fight from the rest of the Jackson clan as they still believe there is more to this case involving the physician and possibly other suspects.

One of Jackson’s sisters LaToya released a statement immediately after the hearing stating that she will continue to fight until ‘proper justice is served’. The rest of the family including the family lawyer feels that the charge is not enough and it is simply ‘a whitewash’. As more details come to light, Dr. Murray has been accused of giving Michael Jackson an overdose of general anasthetic called ‘propofol’ which has also been called the ‘milk of amnesia’, plus another two sedatives. However, the correct protocol is said to have not been followed. Jackson suffered from chronic insomnia and he personally hired the physician to be his personal doctor in preparation for his UK comeback concerts. Reports have shown that the singer was in good health before his untimely death and it was the cocktail of drugs that intoxicated him and caused his heart to stop.

Michael Jackson fans all over the world are crying out for justice and want to know the truth behind his death. Tickets for his comeback gigs sold out in record timimg as people anticipated the return of one of the world’s greatest performers. As the trial contines, Dr. Murray has been released on bail and been fined three times more than the usual amount. Do you think this is enough?

The charity single will be a cover of REM’s song “Everybody Hurts” and Cowell is in talks with various artists to try and get as many stars involved as possible. Although the final line up has not been revealed, it is rumoured Sir Elton John, Sir Paul McCartney and Robbie Williams will be asked. Simon will also be hoping to get Take That and Susan Boyle involved but has already signed up both Cheryl Cole and Leona Lewis.

Lewis said: You can definitely count me in. What’s happened is absolutely heartbreaking and I really hope everyone pulls together to help”.

It seems January’s big freeze has warmed all the celebrity hearts! The Kills frontman Jamie Hince proposing to supermodel Kate Moss, Little Britain funnyman popping the question to model of the moment Lara Stone and popstar Michael Buble making the beauty in his new music video his fiancee too.

What a glamorous bunch of couples!

Rumour has it Jamie Hince proposed to Kate whilst holidaying in the Caribbean on her 36th birthday. It seems like its something the world has been waiting for after Moss’ disatrous relationship with Pete Doherty. Its also been thought that the engagement ring was carefully picked out with the help of the Topshop tycoon Sir Phillip Green, who is also Kate’s boss and business partner. Best friend of Moss Sadie Frost should be giving herself a pat on the back as it was her that introduced the soon to be newlyweds backstage at a gig.

The lastest star to pop the question is David Walliams. The comedy actor has had numerous flings over the years with women such as Abi Titmuss, Denise Van Outen and Lauren Budd but it seems he is now a one woman man after proposing to catwalk queen Lara Stone. The dutch model is said to be ecstatic after David flew out to Mexico and got down on one knee. The whirlwind romance only started in September and the couple  have tried to avoid public appearences together. Stone has been on the cover of British Vogue and is the new face of Louis Vuitton’s campaign. Being one of the most sought after models, Walliams must be pinching himself!

Walliams confirmed the news telling The Sun: “Yes, it’s true, we’re engaged and blissfully happy”.

Other celebs in love is jazz crooner Michael Buble who proposed to his girlfriend, Luisana Lopilato, an Argentinian actress. The lucky lady appeared in video for Buble’s hit “Just Haven’t Met You Yet”.

10 years after Oscar winning director James Cameron made one of the biggest films of all time ‘Titanic’, he now brings to the screen the ultiamte 3D sci- fi epic:  ‘Avatar’.

Set in the future, the story revolves around Jake a paraplegic war veteran, who is brought to another planet, Pandora. He is transformed into an Avatar, like the inhabitants of Pandora called the Na’vi, a  race with their own language and culture (cue the 12 foot blue quasi- humanoid creatures with pointy ears, flat noses and ethnic dreadlocks!)  Theres also the usual Hollywood love story so all us girls don’t  have to feel left out while all the action/ fighting/ alien stuff is going on!

Avatar

The 3D spectacular reportedly cost over $300 million to make and is set to smash all box ofiice sales through the roof! The London premiere in Leicester went down a storn on thw 10th December and all the star cast turned up- Sigourney Weaver, Zoe Saldana, Michelle Rodriguez and Sam Worthington.

James Cameron himself made an appearence and said: “Finally everyone can see what this amazing cast have managed to pull off. I want to welcome everyone to the planet of Pandora”.  Cameron does mention the serious undertones concerning the film and the messages he wanted to convey about climate change and the environment. He says: ” We are causing a global climate change that’s going to be absolutely devastating to the coral reefs. Science is unable to keep up with our industrial society. We are destroying species faster than we can classify them.”

Former Spice Girl Emma Bunton has been snapped up to be the new judge on Dancing on Ice, hitting our screens in the new year.

The singer and Heart radio station presenter will be replacing old judge Ruthie Henshall, who also had no ice skating experience. Emma says she is there for  “the performance, the connection with the audience, the choreography. I have been performing for a long time now. I just know what I want to see in a performance. That’s going to be a big part of it for me”.

emma bunton

It seems Emma is catching the reality TV bug after appearing on the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing and coming 3rd, she helped Dannii Minogue pick out her contestants for the X Factor last year and now a judge on Dancing on Ice.

One of the reasons Emma jumped at the chance to appear on the show was so she could meet the ice skating legends Torvill and Dean, she says : “I’m so excited to be joining a show that I have been a huge fan of since it began, and to be working with Torvill and Dean, I can’t wait to get started.”

What do you make of Emma becoming the new judge and Ruth Henshall being given the cold shoulder?

“So tell us what you want, what you really really want!” We’d love to hear from you or play some of our Spice Girls quizzes at Triviala.

The Christmas spirit is not lost, despite the recession, a survey conducted by Triviala has revealed.

With more than half of adults saying that this Christmas is set to be just as good as any other, the festive spirit is, clearly, still very much alive.

Over 1,000 people across the UK and Ireland were asked and 64 percent of adults said that Christmas 2009 will not be different to any other year.

The poll crushes any fears that Britain will have a gloomy time this winter, amid the economic recovery.

christmas-scene

Youngsters are set to have a merry Christmas too as only 2 percent of adults admit that they will be cutting spending on their children this year. The survey also revealed that most people are looking forward to spending some quality time with their families this Christmas.

“Christmas is obviously a special time for families,” said Scott O’Donnell of http://www.triviala.com, which commissioned the survey.

“It is sometimes the only chance each year that families will be able to get time off work and all spend the day together.”

Other things people admitted to looking forward to this Christmas included, indulging in some festive food and drink, and getting a well-deserved break off work.

Receiving presents was listed as the fourth most popular answer with 11 percent, closely followed by entertaining and having people over, which 10 percent of Brits are looking forward to doing this year.

Scott O’Donnell added: “Christmas traditions are certainly not dying out either, regardless of the current economic climate. It just seems that everyone wants to have an enjoyable Christmas together and forget about any money issues.”

The survey revealed that 84 percent of people are going to have a Christmas tree in their homes this year. When asked whether their trees had decreased in size over the past few years, 64 percent of people said it had not.

With increased high street competition among retailers this year, many revealed their Christmas displays in mid October, the earliest recorded so far. 79 percent of people agreed that this is far too early for shops to be beginning their Christmas retailing.

What people are most looking forward to this Christmas:

1. Being with family
2. Food and drink
3. Time off work
4. Presents
5. Entertaining people
6. Christmas shopping
7. Work Christmas Party
8. Going on Holiday
9. Other

Thanks to everyone who took part in the survey – and look out for more on Triviala!

Kate Moss’ Skinny Comments Cause Outrage

Model Kate Moss has been criticised by camapigners after making some outrageous comments about being skinny.

In an interview with fashion website WWD, Moss claimed one of her mottos for life was: “Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.”

Eating disorder charity Beat described the comments as “dangerous” and “very unhelpful” for sufferers of anorexia and bulimia.

A spokeswoman for Beat told the BBC it was “a very unfortunate phrase” particularly as it was widely used on pro-anorexia websites.

“She probably doesn’t realise how dangerous such comments can be. It’s difficult enough for young people who are struggling to beat eating disorders, without comments like this which are very unhelpful,” she said.

Do you think this was irresponsible of Kate Moss?

Or do you think she is still the queen of fashion?

We have plenty of Triviala fashion quizzes on the site for those of you that need your fix.
