Hope you all had a great Bank Holiday weekend…what did you all get up to?

Our colleague has returned safely and all in one piece from his recent 1 month trip to Mongolia for the Mongol Rally.  But please keep your eyes peeled for all the gossip, photos, blog entries from his trip which we will be posting over the next few days. There’s just too much!

Now on 19th June, while you lazy lot were playing on Triviala be it new game FaceOff or just racking up more and more knowledge from our whole heap of UGC quizzes, one of the Triviala team Jennifer Fourie took part in the Sumorun in London’s Battersea Park to raise money for the fantastic charity Gemin-i.

Yep, you heard right, the Sumorun! The basic premise was run around the park (whic works out about 5km/3 miles) in a fabulous inflatable sumo suit! Sounds fun right?! It happens annually and the park looks after the Japanese Peace Padgoda so a picturesque setting if there ever was one.

Triviala were proud sponsors of the event too and so here’s a little look at how our very own Jennifer got on…

Jennifer managed to run the course with much success, finishing only 9 minutes after the leader AND to top it all off she was part of setting a new world record for the most number of sumo runners….so even history was made!

We’d like to say a big congrats to Jennifer and to all who took part as it was for such a great cause. We were proud sponsors and hope we’ve encouraged you all to maybe take part in next years Sumorun. (And better yet, you get to keep the outfit!)

The British role model has been in a severe decline, it was revealed yesterday.

A massive 67% of people considered John Terry and Tiger Woods as perfect public figures before their recent alleged scandals were revealed.

Now, a staggering 86% of Brits regard them as terrible role models for the younger generation.

Another 76% of Brits polled felt that high profile divorces/separations represented bad examples of the morals of marriage and family values. High profile cheating allegations are dissolving the traditions of trust and faithfulness.

For younger Britons, being exposed to a quick divorce in the public limelight conceals the large financial reality of ending a marriage through British courts. The average cost of ending a marriage is around £13,000.

The poll of over 1000 people across the UK, conducted by online quiz site triviala.com revealed over 90% people believe too much emphasis is put on the wrong type of celebrities such as the likes of Pete Doherty, Kate Moss and Amy Winehouse are more often than not in the limelight for the wrong reasons.

83% of people thought Reality TV stars shouldn’t be considered celebrities.

In addition to this, 89% of the public showed their frustration that these individuals were becoming famous due to their likeability factors rather than having actual talent to inspire the younger generation with.

An astonishing 93% of people polled believed today’s celebrities are encouraging young people to succeed via quick wins instead of forging long-term careers.

An additional 91% of adults surveyed believe the younger society are unaware of the real pressures of fame and success which often lead to either breakdowns, bankruptcy or substance abuse.

A surprising 90% stated that their perceptions of MPs being bad role models didn’t change regardless of the recent expense scandal. Its interesting to discover these hugely influential individuals are seen as such bad figures in our society.

Supposed role models don’t realise their importance and influential power they have on the younger generation including fans, youth and the general public. They become inconsiderate of how much they are valued and looked up to for direction and aspirations.

As a nation, it is collectively our duty to set the correct example to ensure our younger members of society can decipher right from wrong and keep traditional British values alive.

As the Oscars are nearly upon us, this Sunday is sure to be the biggest event of the year. And lucky Brit actress Carey Mulligan who has been nominated for the  Best Actress award is happy for another reason at the moment… her Transformers star boyfriend Shia LaBeouf.

“An Education” starlet Mulligan met the action hero on the set of their new film “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps” last August and it seems the couple have been well and truly loved up ever since.

LaBeouf has been linked to co star Megan Fox and singer Rihanna but it seems he may have now found himself a talented English rose to call his girlfriend. Lets hope he escorts her down the red carpet on Sunday as to make their first public appearance together.

Michael Douglas who also stars in the follow up to the 1987 Wall Street classic, warned the both of them about the dangers of off screen relationships but also made  it clear that they are perfect for each other. He said: “I warned them, “Don’t ever do that”, but they are an item and they are having a great time.”

Well we have our fingers crossed for the sensational actress and after winning the BAFTA for the same award, we hope it’s in the bag!

Katie Price has married Celebrity Big Brother winner, cage fighter Alex Reid in a 22 minuite ceremony in Las Vegas. The mother of three only divorced ‘Mysterious Girl’ singer Peter Andre in May 2009.

The newlyweds have been dating for seven months and has been a rollercoaster on/off saga. When Price appeared for the second time on ‘I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’, in her exit interview she publicly dumped Alex on air. After saying she had done “a lot of thinking in the jungle” she went onto say “I wanted to be on my own, I don’t need a relationship. I hope we can remain friends”. Ant and Dec then asked her if Alex was still her boyfriend, she simply said “I’m not with him”.

Some people have said Katie has wed the CBB cross dressing winner for popularity and media attention. However, her agent has published a statement claiming that: “Their decision to marry has not been made with any media deal in place. It is purely down to their love for each other.” Hmmm, well this is publicity hungry Jordan we are talking about and I’m not that convinced, are you?

In an interview with OK magazine only published on Tuesday, Price had said that she will be having children with Alex and that they would be “together forever”.

According to reports, the couple didn’t allow any filming or photography to take place during the ceremony. Although ITV2’s cameras were there as they also screen Price’s relality TV show. So no doubt there will be at least some footage or a predictable OK front cover story! Let’s just wait and see…

Simon Cowell has confirmed this year will be his last as a judge on American Idol but will be launching a US version of The X Factor.

The music mogul signed a contract with Fox network and the search for a new Leona Lewis, Joe McElderry or Alexandra Burke will begin Autumn 2011. The new venture also marks the first project Cowell is teaming up with Sir Phillip Green for, the business tycoon behind Topshop.  With the success of the UK version behind them, the multi miliionaires look to become even richer!

Syco, the  joint production company betweeen Cowell and Sony Music own and produce the X Factor format, meaning Simon will accumulate a more substantial amount of money via The X Factor as on American Idol he was paid only as a judge. Simon’s excitement was shown last night when he said: “‘I’m thrilled that we have put a date on the launch of the U.S. version of The X Factor, and delighted to be continuing to work with Fox”.

The X Factor is shown in more than 17 countries globally and is the most popular entertainment show in the  world. The UK entertainment TV formats are fast becoming the worlds leaders. There was ‘Pop Idol’, across the pond becoming American Idol, ‘Britains Got Talent’ was so successful we now have ‘America’s Got Talent’ with old X Factor judge Sharon Osbourne holding the fort and the BBC’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ has been transformed into ‘Dancing with the Stars’ in the USA. Simon Cowell knows a good thing when he sees one!

The US actress Brittany Murphy collapsed at home in Los Angeles and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Cedars Sinai medical Center.  The star aged 32 is reported to have died from a heart attack.

She was found unconscious in the shower at her home which she shared with her husband British–born screenwriter Simon Monjack. Although the official cause of death is yet to be determined, the star seems to have died from natural causes.

Murphy starred in films such 8 mile, Clueless, Sin city and Don’t Say a word. Her family have said in a statement “She was our daughter, our wife, our love and a shining star. We ask you to respect our privacy at this time.”

Murphy’s ex-boyfriend Ashton Kutcher who co-starred with her in ‘Just Married’ paid tribute to her on twitter saying  “2day the world has lost a little piece of sunshine.”

Other celebrities have also paid their respects including Hillary Duff who wrote “RIP Brittany Murphy forever in our hearts”. Jessica Simpson also said “Brittany Murphy was an incredible ray of light to so many people. Her smile was contagious.”
